Welcome to The Career Advising and Transfer Services Center (C.A.T.S.)
The Purpose of the C.A.T.S. Center
The Division of Student Services re-assigned Room 1111 b12 to serve the transitional needs of the Daley College student body. The C.A.T.S. center is staffed by the College Advisors and provides a variety of services for the Daley College community. All College Advisors serve as generalists in the areas of Career Exploration, Academic Advising and Transfer Services. Additionally, materials from universities and computers for employment/college searching are available for student use.
The United Parcel Service or U.P.S. is also in the C.A.T.S. Center. Students are able to speak with a UPS representative and receive information about the Earn and Learn Program for students who work at U.P.S. while attending school. The hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Appointments are available by calling x7575. Walk-in service is also available in Room 1111.
The hours of the C.A.T.S. Center are Mon-Thurs 9:00-7:00 pm Fri.9:00-5:00 pm. No appointment is necessary.
Transfer Department
As a community college that grants associates degrees, our goal is to assist and encourage students to enter and complete baccalaureate programs at four-year institutions. The mission of the Transfer Department is to increase the number of students, especially minority students, who transfer to four-year institutions.
The department provides the following services:
- College Fairs Admissions representatives from various colleges and universities throughout Illinois participate in our transfer college fairs twice a year
- Admission Representatives from colleges and universities regularly schedule visits on Daley College’s campus
- Workshops and Information on the admission/ transfer process to colleges and universities
- Informational Seminars on college majors coordinated with academic deans and advisors from four-year institutions.
- Computer Resources to assist with deciding on a major field of study, exploring universities, colleges, and determining transfer options.
- College Resource Center that features over 12,500 catalogs of U.S. two-year, four-year , and graduate schools.
- One-on-One Advising Sessions with advisors from Illinois colleges and universities to assist with selecting Daley College courses that will transfer and meet degree requirements. In addition, appointments may be made to meet with our transfer advisors.
- College Reference Library complete with university and college applications, brochures, catalogs, scholarships, and other transfer information.
- Illinois Articulation Initiative , a state of Illinois initiative to assist student transferring between colleges and universities within Illinois.

Workshops/Seminars
The staff conduct workshops and seminars throughout the academic year on various topics such as: Resume writing, interview skills, job search strategies, choosing careers, majors and other related items. Workshops and seminars are open to all students, staff, and alumni. A full schedule of workshop topics, dates, times and locations will be available during the semester.
Interviewing
Concerned about your interviewing skills? Worried about your ability to sell yourself in an interview? Our office can help prepare you to do your best in the interview. If you would like to practice for the interview, you can schedule a “mock interview” with a representative, who will assume the role of an employment interviewer and take you through a simulated interview. You can also be videotaped to assess your performance.
Job Fairs
Daley College holds two annual job fairs, one in the fall semester and one during the spring semester. These job fairs give our students the chance to speak with local area employers about employment opportunities. Employers are also valuable resources for employment trends.
Internships
A unique component of the Placement Center is internships which provided individuals with opportunities to work alongside professionals to gain experience as well as aid individuals in making career decisions.

A site for employers interested in coming on campus for recruitment visits, job fairs, or posting a job.
Career Planning Department
The need for career exploration activities has never been higher because of the rapidity of change within the work environment of society. Our department has researched and obtained career information resources to serve as the focal point of career development activities.

Our Career Library houses a variety of resources which will aid you in a career decision or job search.
Horizons, ECOS, Choices, Vocational Biographies and Career View
There are simple computerized programs that can help you learn about yourself, the workplace, occupations, taking action, and making transitions in your career. You can come in and take a free assessment today. An advisor will be able to help you with an explanation of the results and provide additional resource materials.
