Child Development Laboratory School
The Child Development Lab School serves the college’s students and employees. Parents must remain on campus while their children are present in the program. It is open to children who are between 3-5 years of age. The program is planned to enhance the total development of each child. Children participate in a variety of activities designed to increase their knowledge and improve their skills. The Lab School Year Round Program is open to all children who meet admission requirements. All children must be 3 years of age by September 1 of the current school year; children 5 years of age will be accepted only if they missed the cut-off date for kindergarten.
Dates of Registration
The service is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is year-round and completed when all admission requirements are submitted to the Child Development Lab School, Room #1108.

Philosophy
The philosophy behind the education component of the Child Development Laboratory School at Daley College and Arturo Velasquez Institute is rooted in child development theory and research. We believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences and learning opportunities. We believe in individualizing instruction to meet the needs of every child in our classrooms. Our programs emphasize the importance of parent, family and community involvement in our classroom activities.
Curriculum
All preschool classrooms at the Child Development Laboratory School at Daley College and Arturo Velasquez Institute use "The Creative Curriculum for Preschoolas" the foundation for planning daily lessons and activities.
We provide experiences to enrich every child’s development in the following areas:
- Social / Emotional
- Physical
- Cognitive
- Language
Staff
All part-time teachers have an Associate’s degree or are working toward their degree in Early Childhood Education. We also have work study students.
All of our personnel are committed to ongoing staff training and professional development. Dedicated and well-educated professional are critical to implementing a high-quality early childhood program. All staff participates in a variety of trainings and courses throughout the school year.
Requirements for Admission
- The child's up-to-date medical form with required immunizations, lead screening, TB, etc; Results must be filled in and dated by the doctor, but a parent must complete the health history.
- Original birth certificate (copy will be kept)
- Parent's copy of class registration
Hours of Operation
The Lab School Year Round Program is open to all children who meet admission requirements. It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Cost
- The tuition is based on a weekly rate and $10 non-refundable processing fee (costs is subject to change without notice)
