Continuing Education Division (CE)
773.838.7551

The College offers an extensive Continuing Education Program for pre-school children and for adults sixteen years and older regardless of their educational background. Courses are offered from one to seven weeks that meet days, evenings and weekends at the college and in some off-campus, community-based locations such as schools, senior citizens and community centers. Non-credit courses, workshops, symposia, and forums are among programs offered in concert with and for numerous community agencies and organizations. Courses which are approved by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) provide Continuing Education Units (CEU) upon successful completion. These units do not apply toward the completion of associate degrees.

Program categories include, but are not limited to, Adult Literacy Education, Business, Communication Skills, Computer Literacy, Fine Arts, Health, Humanities, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Physical Education, Sciences, Speech, Trades and Community Calendar workshops.

Hundreds of General Continuing Education courses have been approved for ICCB credit as well as for the Special Interest category. Business courses include Business Recordkeeping, Gregg Shorthand, Introduction to Computers, Real Estate, Software Applications, Typing and Word Processing. Fine Arts courses include Art, Music, Photography, and Piano. Trade classes include Architectural Blueprint Reading, Basic Electronics, Home Electrician, and How to Design A Home.

Certified Nurse's Assistant Program
Daley College's Continuing Education programs include the Certified Nurse's Assistant Program approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Students completing this program are certified to seek employment as nurse's assistants in nursing homes or health care agencies.

Continuing Education Adult Program
The Adult Literacy Program provides remedial instruction for adults in reading, writing and related literacy areas. Business and secretarial courses are provided for training in business communication skills, business recordkeeping, shorthand, typing, office skills for adult workers, and managing and supervising in a business environment. Certificate programs include Landscape Horticulture, Private Pilot Ground School, and various Red Cross certificates.

Older/Senior Adult Learning
Many courses have been tailored to meet the requirements of older adults and senior citizens. Preparation for retirement is emphasized. Self-awareness, self-esteem and new attitudes toward the normal aging process are developed through class participation. Senior citizens learn of many new avenues open to them, of special services available to them, and of services they can offer to society. Social action and social issues may be studied and cultural enrichment is explored through a variety of fine art courses.

Young Learners
The Continuing Education Division welcomes young learners to the program. Offerings for pre-school children, through fifteen years of age, include both educational and recreational courses. These are conveniently scheduled for after-school hours and on Saturdays. Hobby and special interest courses include arts and crafts, calligraphy, dancing, ethnic cookery, golf, and photography.

Special Interest
The Continuing Education Division offers an array of affordable, diversified and quality workshops, courses, and programs to meet community needs and interests for all age groups. Its flexibility in developing special interest workshops, courses, and programs and revising existing ones has made the Division a versatile and dynamic department. The Continuing Education Division provides workforce training for the employees of local area businesses and establishments.
