Adult Education Program Mission Statement
The mission of the Adult Education Program of the City Colleges of Chicago is to provide adults with preparatory and developmental instruction in Adult Basic Education (ABE), Citizenship, English as a Second Language (ESL), and/or General Educational Development (GED) to meet students' individual goals. Individual goals may include post-secondary education, employment skills training, and/or personal and career enhancement.
Strategic Plan 2006 Accomplishments
Final Report: (July 1, 2005 Through
June 30, 2006)

| Successfully transitioned 747 students (duplicated headcount) - 134 in Summer, 2005;
305 in Fall, 2005; and 308 in Spring, 2006 - from Adult Education Program to college credit classes in Fiscal Year 2006.
Identified 119 GED graduates and recognized them at the GED graduation
ceremonies held October 28, 2005 and May 19, 2006. To date, more than
3,800 GED graduates have successfully prepared for the exam through Daley
Adult Education Program.
Awarded 245 certificates to ESL program completers.
Twelve students enrolled in Citizenship Preparation courses successfully
completed the naturalization process and became USA citizens.
Presented 1 Harold Washington scholarship to Adult Education Program graduate
enrolling in credit courses at Daley College.
Completed 8 seminars for 130 students 16 and 17 years of age.
Conducted 121 individual counseling sessions for students with special
needs and made site visits to all off-campus site locations.
Conducted 42 orientation sessions for adult educators, 142 classroom observations,
and completed 23 evaluation sessions with adult educators.
Extended partnership with St. Xavier University to provide life skills
classes and services to developmentally disabled adults.
607 Daley Adult Education Program staff members (duplicated headcount)
participated in 62 staff development activities.
