Grants and Scholarships
Richard J. Daley College participates in a number of grants and scholarship programs. Students should contact the Financial Aid Office for additional information regarding an application for the respective scholarship and deadlines. Following is a description of available grants and scholarships:

Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) Monetary Awards
Students residing in the state of Illinois may qualify for an Illinois Student Assistance Commission monetary award which covers payment of tuition and mandatory College fees for an academic year. Applications and awards adhere to strict deadline dates. As a result, students should apply early for these state funds. Applicants for most federal financial aid programs are required to file for an ISAC award. Students enrolled in six or more semester hours may apply.

Illinois Veterans' Grant (IVG)
Veterans residing in the state of Illinois at the time of entering the Armed Forces or were bona fide residents until at least six months prior to entering the service and returned to the state of Illinois within six months after leaving the service and have resided in the state for at least one year immediately prior to making application for a scholarship, may qualify for Illinois Veterans' Grant. These scholarships cover tuition and selected fees. Interested full-time or part-time students who are veterans should contact the Financial Aid Office.

Federal Pell Grant
The Pell Grant Program is a Federal program for college students demonstrating a need for financial assistance and may qualify for up to $3,500 from this program. All students who believe they are in need of financial assistance should apply.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program (SEOG)
Students with additional financial need may qualify for the SEOG grant. Students enrolled for six or more semester hours of credit may apply.

Federal College Work-Study Program (CWSP)
Students demonstrating financial need may be eligible for part-time jobs through the Federal College Work-Study Program. Students generally work up to a maximum of 15 hours per week either on or off campus during the regular academic year. Students enrolled for six or more semester hours of college credit are eligible.

Daley College Scholarships
Each Spring, the Richard J. Daley College Scholarship committee, composed of two students, two faculty members, and two administrators, invites second year students to apply for Daley College Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students planning to continue their education after leaving Daley College. Selection of scholarship winners is based on achievement of general academic excellence. Information and applications are available in the Dean of Student Services Office.

Dr. Mark D. Warden Scholarship
This scholarship, offered by the President of Daley College, recognizes students who excel academically and are involved in either college and/or community activities. Information on the scholarship is available in the Dean of Student Services Office.

Illinois MIA/POW Scholarship
This scholarship is a tuition scholarship for student dependents of Illinois prisoners of war and servicemen missing in action. Contact the Financial Aid Office.

Illinois National Guard/Naval Militia Scholarship
Members of the Illinois National Guard or Naval Militia, having served for at least one year, are eligible for a scholarship which pays tuition and appropriate fees. Contact the Financial Aid Office.

Harold Washington Academic Scholarship
Upon the recommendation of the College Presidents, the Board of Trustees of the City Colleges of Chicago awards up to 100 Harold Washington Academic Scholarships per college to students with academic potential. This scholarship is for students who demonstrate promise as evidenced by exceptional high school academic performance or outstanding achievement on the test of General Educational Development (GED). You must also have recommendations from an employer, pastor, teacher, advisor, or other community leaders with knowledge of the student's academic potential. Students may apply for the scholarship at the Dean of Student Services Office. The scholarship renewal is based on class performance and local option, and cover the full cost of tuition. The criteria for the scholarship are:
  • Current 3.00 GPA or better
  • Chicago residency
  • Full-time enrollment in a degree or advanced certificate program
  • Expectation of maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Any other attributes recognized, in the College President's judgment, warranting consideration.
Loans

Stafford Loan
The Federal Stafford Loan Program is the new name for the Guaranteed Student Loan (GSL) Program. Stafford Loans are low-interest loans made by a lender such as a bank, credit union, or savings and loan association. These loans are insured by the guarantee agency in the State of Illinois and reinsured by the Federal Government. Students may borrow up to $2,625 as a freshman and $3,500 as a sophomore per academic year and must repay this loan beginning six months after completion of school or six months after they are no longer enrolled at least half-time.
