The Nursing faculty is experienced in the field of Nursing and are dedicated to innovative instruction and student success. Our curriculum enables students to develop a system of personal values that lead to civic and social responsibility and to attain skills in communication, computation, critical thinking and problem solving necessary for future growth as productive members of society.

The curriculum will also prepare graduates to be competent providers of nursing care, managers of nursing care, and teachers of nursing. Admission requirements for the nursing program are listed here and under the Admissions Section of this Catalog. Daley’s Nursing Program will provide you with the necessary skills to be successful in the field of Nursing!

Nursing Philosophy
We, the Nursing Faculty of Richard J Daley College, believe that Nursing is a human caring profession that incorporates teaching and learning to promote positive health outcomes for clients. We are advocates of life long learning and include the following principles to guide nursing education which includes the following:

Evidence based practice which is current and timely research, analytical and critical thinking that provides the basis for our nursing practice, and is evident throughout our curriculum.

Critical thinking which integrates the application of knowledge, analysis, and decision making for safe, effective nursing practice.

Communication demonstrates therapeutic, verbal, nonverbal, written, and technical skills which are paramount in building a sound nursing foundation for our students... that is therapeutic, ethical, responsible and accurate in all forms (written, oral, non-verbal and technologically transmitted), and respects cultural diversity of clients and workforce.

Leadership that encompasses the legal and ethical principles of delegation, and personal accountability in managing delivery of nursing care.

Professional Development is an on-going process that involves self assessment to maintain current best practices; it is the cornerstone of life long learning.

Globalization is the recognition and respect for the culturally diverse populations that we serve in traditional and non-traditional settings; while managing health resources to promote wellness within this socio-cultural context.
